Feasibility study of nuclear power plant in Myanmar needs time
Khit (NSS) - Aug 21
Myanmar needs more time to conduct feasibility study for the construction of the nuclear power plant, according to an official from the Nuclear Centre in Yangon.
The official mentioned it during the event held for public awareness presented at the Nuclear Center on 16 August. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Aung Zeya, relevant authorities, officials, and media.
“We need to take the necessary survey first. We have to collect data on the geography of the environment, and meteorology data. We haven’t done a land survey yet. We have to survey the conditions of water level and potential earthquake. We can issue the result after the survey as mentioned,” the official side.
To implement the nuclear power plants, Myanmar needs many technicians, experts and more investment partners, he added.
Currently, the Nuclear Centre is raising the public awareness and sharing knowledge about using nuclear in a peaceful way and nuclear power plants to produce electricity in Myanmar at schools in Yangon.
Over seven thousand students and youths across Myanmar toured the Nuclear Centre to study nuclear reactors including physics subjects.
