IBEC launches special education program for displaced children
Hsu / Thuta Kyaw (NSS) - Aug 30
The International Buddhist Education Centre's principal and Stockholm World Peace Prize Holder Buddhist Sayadaw Dr. Ashin Sobhita (Venerable IBEC Sayadaw) is launching a special education program for children affected by conflict and displacement.
The program is being offered to children from unstable regions such as northern Shan State, Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, as well as Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, and Rakhine States, where educational opportunities have been hindered by conflicts this academic year. With compassion at the forefront, the Venerable IBEC Sayadaw and the IBEC School Monastery are welcoming these children into the "IBEC Monk's Special Education Program," beginning from 9:00 am on August 22.
“The ongoing wars, conflicts, and reliance on arms are destroying towns and villages, leaving children as the ultimate victims. Many of these children have fled to areas like Mandalay and Sagaing, wanting to continue their education, but due to the situation, many schools are hesitant to accept them. That's why, as much as possible, we are trying to support and provide education, connecting with humanitarian organizations like the World Food Program to assist displaced people. This is a twofold effort, with a focus on providing the necessary education”, the Sayadaw stated.
There is no limit to the number of children who can be admitted to this program, and many are showing interest, according to the Sayadaw.
The IBEC Sayardaw and the IBEC School Monastery are compassionately implementing a special program in accordance with their educational policy. This policy aims to provide free and peaceful education to all school-aged children, without discrimination. In these challenging times, the IBEC Sayadaw and the IBEC School Monastery remain committed to offering this program with a spirit of compassion.
Individuals interested in participating in the program can choose to visit the IBEC School Monastery in person, contact them by phone at 09 798716259, or directly meet with the IBEC Sayardaw for further inquiries.
