Chinese NGO donates K30 mln worth sports equipment to schools in Yangon

The China Foundation for Peace and Development (CFPD) and Myanmar Chinese Cooperation and Communication Centre donated sports equipment including Sepak takraw, football, badminton, and other cultural-athletic facilities to basic education schools in Yangon.
The donation ceremony was organized on 2 August at the Chinese Cultural Center in Yangon.
Aiming to promoting the friendship and exchanging socio-cultural relations between Myanmar and China, the donation is known to be a part of the “Silk Road People to People Connectivity Care for the Future” programme developed by the CFPD.
This donation under “Silk Road from the Hearth: Care for the Future” involve six basic education schools in Yangon Region – which are No. 2 Basic Education High School Latha, No. 13 Post Primary School Mayangone, No. 8 Sub-Middle School of Dagon Seikkan, No. 18 Basic Primary School Hlainethaya, Basic Middle School (Htawwat) Thanlyin, No. 18 Sub-Middle School Tharketha, and Yangon University of Foreign Languages (YUFL).
During the event, the Deputy General Secretary of the CFPD Mr. Liu Zhenzhong stated, “Since establishment, we have been fulfilling the vision for People-to-People Diplomacy. We have formulated many projects in Myanmar to promote People-to-People ties especially in healthcare, medical treatment, and education continuously. A total of more than 20 million Yuan was spent on it.”
Mg Min Thiha Ko is a 17-year-old Grade 9 student from No. 18 Basic Education Middle School, Tharketa. He remarks, “Our school receives sports equipment for football, cane-ball, tennis, and volleyball. I play football for a few years. Our schools did have full facilities for the sports before. Now we are glad to have them. I thank this donation. It is also good for the China-Myanmar relationship.”
The CFPD has been operating charity works in Myanmar since 2011. It primarily donates education materials, facilities, stationaries, and equipment to schools for the benefit of Myanmar students.
