Mon State Gov to launch vaccination program for rabies for civilians and monks

The Mon State Government is planning to launch the anti-rabies vaccination program for civilians and monks with more than 9,000 rabies vaccine vials in Mon State with free of charge.
According to the medical reports, there were approximately 110 people were bitten by the rabid dogs within previous six months; amongst, three died who were not vaccinated.
“They may be the pet dogs but infected by rabid. There were 110 people bitten by rabid dogs within 6 months in 7 townships,” an official form the Mon State Government told NP News.
Therefore, the Department of Public Health of Mon State proposed to get the rabies vaccines.
As a consequence, 9,000 Anti-Rabies Vaccines were provided to Mon State and the free vaccinations will be conducted for the public twice.
The ARV vaccination will be started on April 19 for the first time. The second time will be conducted a week later, the officer continued.
“The vaccination will be provided for the whole Mon State. All townships will get vaccination on April 19. Two doses have to be provided for the full dose. So, the second time will be in a week later,” he continued.
The vaccination program is expected to prioritize for the novices and young monks; postmen, delivery men, motorcycle carriers, municipal staffs and pet owners.
It is reported that 9,000 ARVs will be vaccinated in 10 townships of Mon State, an expected 400 people per township will get vaccinated.
