Historic heat breaks within 44 years in Upper and Central Myanmar

The highest heat recorded in Myanmar within 44 years especially in Sagaing, Mandalay and Magwe as forecasted by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).
The DMH made this weather forecast on April 19.
March, April and May are typically hottest months in Myanmar. This year the heat fueled the hottest temperature in Tamu Township topping out at 43.8 Degree Centigrade within 44 years while the last hottest record in Tamu was 43.2 Degree Centigrade, according to the DMH.
On April 19, the temperature was 45 Degree Centigrade in Magwe and Chauk; and 44 Degree Centigrade in Kalaywa, Tamu, Myingyan, Mingin, Monywa, Myinmu, Mandalay, Nyaung-U, Bawlakhe and Phasawng, according to the DMH statement.
The DMH forecasted the heat will be increasing in Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway regions up to 44 Degree Centigrade on April 20.
The heat is expected to rise in Myitkyina, Lashio, Keng Tung, Taunggyi, Hakha, Homalin, Naypyidaw, Magwe, Sittwe, Bago, Pathein, Loikaw, Hpa- an, Mawlamyine and Dawei including Yangon, the DMH notified.
The director of DMH forecasted that the temperature will continue to rise after Thingyan period.
“The weather is getting hot. The hottest part will top at 42 Degrees Centigrade and more 2 or 3 degrees,” he said.
The health department released alerts and instructions regarding on the heat rise.
