As per the information released by the State Administration Council on April 8, the #PDF_terrorists who are plotting to explode the crowded pavilions during the Thingyan #Water_Festival were captured with explosive devices and ammunitions.   

A member of the PDF terrorists from Special Task Agency- STA, namely Zaw Htet Aung, was captured at his house in Shwe Hlaing Street, Ma Gyee Tan Ward in Kyee Myin Taing Township on 4th April. 

According to his confession, another member of STA namely Ye Min Paing was also captured at Kyaung Gyi Street in Zay Gyi Eastern Ward in Kyee Myin Taing township together with one Sig Sauer Pistol, one Glock Pistol, three pistol cartridges, 44 bullets of Point-380, and 50 plastic cups, 18 detonators, 9 dynamite powder, 200 carbon sticks, one pack of Sulphur, thirteen packs of iron pellets, one bag of iron pieces which are to be used in making hand grenades.   

According to the confessions made by them, they attended the explosive and terrorist training together. The STA (Special Task Agency) was established in February with twenty members including Sohn Yae, Tay Za and Soe Thura Tun: the runaway and former NLD Pyithu Hluttaw Representative from Kungyangon Township. 

The two terrorists admitted that they have committed assassinations and extrajudicial killings subjected to schoolteachers, governmental staff and other civilians under the name of alleged informer (locally call ‘Dalan’). 

They also admitted that they committed robberies and mugging from rich civilians; and conducted sabotages and exploded the public infrastructures, as per the SAC statement.   

The two terrorists plotted to explode at the public places with crowded area in Yangon Region with handmade explosive devices with high bombing capacity during the Water Festival under the instruction given by the abovementioned fugitives Soe Thura Tun, Sohn Ye and Tay Za. 

The terrorists, as per their confessions, schemed to commit terror shooting into the crowd with two pistols in Yangon as the simultaneous action when the bombs they set were went off in the crowd. The fugitive terrorists agreed to pay 1 million MMK (approximately 450 USD) in return if their mission was accomplished.

The SAC announced that those terrorists who were seized on their attempts to destroy Myanmar’s traditional Water Festival in Yangon Region will be taken legal actions.
