“All-inclusiveness” is theoretically good, not pragmatic: Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun
Hsu / Myo Gyi (NP News) – April 26
Major General Zaw Min Tun remarks that ‘All-inclusiveness’ sounds good in paradigm but it isn’t easy to execute in the Myanmar political sphere.
NP News held an exclusive interview with the Spokesperson of the State Administration Council (SAC) Major General Zaw Min Tun, relating to Myanmar’s political conflicts asking his view on the degree of feasibility on “all-inclusive discussions”.
Either international or local organizations have been insisting on the emergence of all-inclusive political dialogues and talks which can have least negative impacts to the civilians so as to settle the ongoing conflicts and disputes in the country.
With regard to the internal peace, the State Administration Council has been holding talks with the stakeholders, political parties and organizations for peace,” said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.
“I have always been talking about this. The terminology of “all-inclusiveness” may sound nice. However, it is not a pragmatic approach and I have to say that the all-inclusive idea is too impractical to bring out a realistic outcome. From different sectors, the discussions with the stakeholders are being conducted by SAC,” he said.
For the time being, the SAC has been holding peace talks with ten ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) in groups and separately to settle internal armed conflicts and to implement perpetual peace.
In addition, Seven NCA signatories EAOs held informal discussion with the SAC and they intend to bring out advancement in political discussions through the informal talks.
