Myanmar extends another six months for State of Emergency

Myanmar extended next six-month of State of Emergency after holding the National Defence and Security Council (NDSC) meeting with nine NDSC members, according to the statement released by the State Administration Council (SAC).
The NDSC meeting was held at the office of the State Administration Council on January 31 in Naypyidaw.
The meeting was attended by the nine NDSC members: Acting President U Myint Swe, Vice-President Henry Van Thio, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker T Khun Myat, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Ministry of Defence General Tin Aung San, Minister for the Ministry of Home Affairs Lieutenant General Yar Pyae, Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Minister for the Ministry of Border Affairs Lieutenant General Tun Tun Naung.
During the NDSC meeting, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing presented the current situations of the country within previous six months, online scams incidents, the forward plans to hold the general election, and the situation of census processes.
In addition, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing proposed to extend another six-months according to Section 425 of the Constitution, as the State is necessary to take measures to bring the country to normal with stability and peace.
Therefore, with the consent of all the members of the NDSC, it has been decided to extend the period of state of emergency for another six months, the SAC’s statement mentioned.
The SAC government led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has completed three years for the State duties and has been extended for another six months.
