Myanmar Tatmadaw and Rakhine insurgents known as ‘AA’ exchanged fire near Koethaung Pagoda located in Mrauk-U, Rakhine State on 13 December. According to the source close to the security forces told NP News.

There are two battalions of Myanmar Myanmar in Mrauk-U.  

At present, the report states that clashes continue intense between the two sides. The Rakhine insurgent AA initiated armed assaults to the border guard police forces on 13 November in Rathedaung and Minbyar townships in Rakhine State. Therefore, war has been restored in Rakhine State once again. 

The Rakhine insurgent AA is one of the members of northern three alliance of ethnic armed insurgents led by Kokang insurgent MNDAA. Therefore, the Rakhine insurgent AA involved in ‘Operation 1027’ that was developed in Shan State on 27 October.  

It has been more than a month that the armed conflict between Tatmadaw and northern three insurgents. Aftermath, both sides held a peace talk brokered by China. Upcoming peace talks are also set to be held in late December between Tatmadaw and three insurgent groups.
