Electricity Office in Kawkareik Township, in Kayin State was hit by heavy weapon; therefore, explosion occurred and it was damaged, according to the source close to the security forces. 

The heavy weapon was landed in the compound of the electricity office at an estimated 7:15 am on December 8. 

 “The fire from the explosion damaged the electricity office in the compound of the district/township governmental offices. But no one was injured,” source close to the security forces said. 

The firefighters killed the fire together with officials from the office and charity teams for an hour. The security forces also assisted guarding the firefighters for safety, the report states. 

It is reported that the 84 feet long, 42 feet wide, and 12 feet high building inside the township electricity office compound were destroyed due to the explosion and fire caused by the ammunition. 

Due to the clashes between the Tatmadaw and armed terrorists in Kawkareik Township since December 1st, more than 15,000 residents from the town and surrounding villages have been displaced to Myawaddy.

In addition, about 10,000 Internally Displaced Persons have also been sheltering in Hpa-An township.
