Resurgence in volunteerism: Myanmar sees surge in former military personnel rejoining service

On December 4th, Major General Zaw Min Tun, the spokesperson of the State Administration Council, announced that thousands of veterans, including deserters and retired soldiers are now voluntarily registering to serve in the country's security service again.
In detailed, the veterans, deserters who did not commit major offenses, and medically retired soldiers have submitted voluntary letters expressing their readiness to rejoin in the operation duties and security duties.
Major General Zaw Min Tun remarks that "They are such a person who believes 'once a soldier, always a soldier.”
Hence, applicants who meet the specified criteria and timeframe will be accepted from their respective military stations. Additionally, individuals who were previously AWOL (Absent Without Leave) and have registered to return will be pardoned, and provided their offense is not considered serious.
Major General Zaw Min Tun stated, "Individuals who were announced as the AWOL (Absent Without Leave) prior to December 3rd will be accepted once more and will be removed from the deserter list.”
According to Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, there are approximately a thousand of veterans and deserters who submitted to serve at the military again. Among them, most expressed their desires solely to be part of military operations and nothing else.
On December 3rd, the Myanmar Military announced that veterans, and deserters who did not commit major offenses will be accepted at the nearest military station to serve the country.
