The Kayah insurgents known as KNPP (stands for Karenni National Progressive Party) brutally killed the rector of Loikaw University and abducted teachers of Loikaw University on 14th November.

Armed clashes were still intense near Loikaw University and Loikaw Prison in Kayah State, as per ground information.

Loikaw resident told NSS, “The insurgents opened two battle fronts at Loikaw City. Battles have been intense near the prison and the university today. However, they (the insurgents) cannot conquer the prison, I’m sure.”

The terrorists led by the KNPP commenced their military operations against Loikaw on 11th November with massive troop forces.

The KNPP claimed that they attacked the university because there were Tatmadaw troops within the school compound.

However, it isn’t true and a Loikaw resident explained as:

“There was no Tatmadaw troops at the university. They (the terrorists) told nonsense things. There were only teachers within the university. The Tatmadaw troops came to the university only when did those pieces of nothing (terrorists) raid the university. We all thought they (the terrorists) would have left the university in their military objectives. Only when they attacked the university, did the Tatmadaw defended the university. However, the terrorists have many troop members, the Tatmadaw collapsed in the university.”

As per information, the KNPP abducted the rector and many lecturers who came to the assembly hall as the insurgents has the rector summoned the teachers to come to the assembly hall. Those teachers who were at their own houses weren’t abducted.
