Schools have been reopened since 1st June across the country. Terrorist destructions targeting the schools, teachers and students by the PDF terrorists, the armed wing of the notorious National Unity Government (NUG), have been increasingly happening on daily basis in different places throughout the country. 

The NUG armed wing PDF terrorists set No. 1 Basic Education High School (Pekon) ablaze on June 3 at an estimated 11 pm. The school is located in Nyaungkon 5 Ward, Pekon Town on the bank of Pinlaung-Pekon Highway in Shan State, according to a reliable source from Pekon Town. 

According to the source, the whole main building of the school was destroyed by the fire. 

“They torched the school’s main building round about 11 pm yesterday. At 11:30 pm, the fire was killed. However, the main building which is eight-roomed with 210 feet long and 30 feet wide was totally destroyed in the fire. Only ashes and pillar left,” the source told NP News. 

There are four buildings at the targeted school. The PDF terrorists set the main building ablaze. Although the firefighters came to cease the fire, it was late and failed to save the main building from total demolition, as per information. 

According to the source, the PDF terrorists purposely torched the school amid other targets including the military base, which is the clear evidence of the NUG/PDFs’ violation against the right to education. 

“There is the city hall in front of the school. Behind the school, there are residential wards and Light Infantry Unit 336. The terrorists did it with deliberate plan to humiliate and violate the children’s education. That is totally disgusting thing done by the terrorists,” a Pekon resident told.

 There has been at least 500 schools that were destroyed by the NUG armed wing PDFs in sabotage, fire and blown up across the country since 2021, according to the data disclosed by the State Administration Council. 

In addition, schools in Myanmar become the latest battlefields used by the PDF terrorists in fighting back the Myanmar Military. The terrorists build hideout camps, defense camp and their military base within the school compounds; sometimes they used school children as the human shields, especially in Sagaing and Magwe regions. 

Worst of all, the PDF terrorists (under NUG command) brutally killed, tortured, murdered, humiliated, arrested and even raped the schoolteachers by reason of opening schools and teaching students at the schools. 

Those war crimes committed by the NUG/PDFs have yet finished in Myanmar but still increasing.
