Myanmar discusses with Russia for assist in extracting natural gas from coal deposits

According to the information released by the Ministry of Energy, Myanmar is discussing with Russia for technical assistance and investments for extracting natural gas from coal deposits.
Union Minister for Energy Ko Ko Lwin received the Russian delegation led by Mr. Shatirov Alexander Sergeevich from Roscongress Investments Fund.
During the talk, Myanmar side discussed to attain Russian technology and investments to extract natural gas that is stored within coal surface; and upgrading refineries and fertilizer factories in Myanmar.
The talk also involved matters related to increasing bilateral energy cooperation, attaining technical aids for exploration, drilling and production of onshore and offshore petroleum and natural gas; using digital monitoring software; increasing productivities of those onshore blocks that declined in oil yields and those potential blocks with collaboration of the Russian companies.
As a matter of fact, Union Minister for Electric Power and the Roscongress delegation met on 7th November in Naypyidaw for cooperation in solar energy and thermal energy projects, as per information by the ministry.
