Major General Zaw Min Tun pledged to eradicate all online gambling and cheating in northern Myanmar by the end of 2023.

During an interview with Phoenix News Media, Major General Zaw Min Tun, the spokesperson of the State Administration Council (SAC) addressed it.

He stated that online gambling is neither a case of China cheating Myanmar nor Myanmar cheating China.

Those cheating and crimes were primarily orchestrated by exiles and certain ethnic armed organizations. 

"We have committed to eradicating those online crimes and cheating. It is uncertain where the gambling market will relocate following this. The military operations will be jointly coordinated between Myanmar and China to combat those gambling networks," he stated.

In northern Myanmar, the gambling industry saw a significant surge, particularly from 2021 to 2022, prompting the Myanmar Government to initiate action and tracking measures beginning in 2022. 

The State Administration Council further highlighted its commitment to eradicating all destructive activities that have potentials to threat the interests of neighboring countries utilizing Myanmar's territory. They will also actively combat the gambling industry.
