The director general of the ASEAN-China Center H.E. Mr. SHI Zhongjun said that Chinese universities are willing to cooperate with Myanmar for the country’s educational development. 

He underlined it during the meeting held with the Ministry of Education on 20th July at the Office No. 13. The Union Minister for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe attended the meeting.  

It is reported that the ASEAN-China Center is increasing cooperations with ASEAN countries in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and media sectors; and therefore, Chinese universities are willing to cooperate for the development of education sector of Myanmar.

He commented that “Friendship of China and ASEAN is expected to be the trigger for the regional development and hope to over challenges that are being experienced in current era.” 

A total of 25 MoUs have been signed between China and Myanmar universities as per information until June 2023, the Union Minister Dr. Nyunt Pe said.  

In addition, a total of 5,703 including students and teachers from Myanmar universities have been sent to the universities in China as apprentices within 2013 and 2023. 

Likewise, 802 Chinese students and 589 Chinese students have been studying Myanmar language at Yangon University of Foreign Language and Mandalay University of Foreign Language respectively since 2013. 

What is more, there are Myanmar guest professors who are serving at the Chinese universities sent by the Ministry of Education.
