After arising gambling and crimes in Wa and Mongla territories, rule of law is required through Myanmar-China cooperation in Wa to eliminate the criminal gangs, the spokesperson of the Information Team from the State Administration Council (SAC) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Major General Zaw Min Tun said. 

Major General informed the message during his interview with Phoenix Media from the People’s Republic of China on October 23. 

During the interview, “Both China and Myanmar must pressure on Wa and Mongla in order to (1) live in accordance with the law, (2) operate only legitimate businesses, and (3) allow Myanmar’s law enforcement agencies such as police, immigration offices and customs department to enter the territory,” Major General said. 

Major General also informed, “Dating back to 1990, heroin crimes, WY drugs crimes in 2000 and the gambling crimes in 2023 were occurred in those territories. Chinese people didn’t notice the first two cases since the criminals didn’t export heroin and WY drugs to China directly. They use the illegal routes through Lao and Thailand. Now, the Chinese people notice the gambling cases since most of Chinese people were suffered as victims in this case.”

Wa and Mongla territories are on the borderline of Myanmar-China and in those territories, there is no rule of law by Myanmar side. 

Now, Myanmar and China are processing the operations through cooperation on Wa and Mongla territories to eliminate the gambling crimes and criminal gangs. 

In addition, Major General also said that Chinese people should know the truth not to get misunderstanding on Myanmar since Myanmar has her owned dignity.
