It is reported that Thantalang Township, which had been raided by the Chin National Front (CNF) and the Chin Defense Force (CDF), now has been reclaimed by the Myanmar Military after three months of attacks. 

Myanmar Military units carried out military and countr-terrorism operations in Thantalang Township in Chin State to counter the presence of the occupied CNF and CDF forces. The State Administration Council (SAC) announced that they successfully regained control of Thantalang Township on October 29th.

Reports indicate that the CNF and CDF launched raids on the township using disproportionate force, launching sudden attacks on military columns and police outposts beginning in February 2023.

As a result, the military columns tried to regain control, beginning in August. They reoccupied several strategic locations step by step, including Thee Bridge, situated approximately 4 miles away from Hakha, the entrance of Thantalang Township, the Construction Office and CB Bank in Thantalang Township, and, subsequently, Thantalang Hospital and the Township High School.

It took approximately 90 days to systematically reclaiming control over the city, prioritizing the minimal colateral damages on civilian infrastructure and properties. On October 29th, they officially announced the successful restoration of complete control over Thantalang Township.

Throughout the armed conflicts, the State Administration Council stated that the CNF and CDF had utilized religious buildings, schools, hospitals, and government structures by constructing brick walls that served as protective military bunkers.

Reports indicate that Myanmar Military personnel lost their lives during the armed conflicts, while ammunition and the bodies of CNF and CDF members were reportedly seized.

The SAC has announced that they are making the necessary arrangements for the resettlement of internally displaced people from Thantalang Township by clearing away debris and rubble. They are collaborating closely with the local community for the rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected residents.
