The State-owned media sector will be presented with great reforms since upcoming 1st August, according to the Union Minister from the Ministry of Information, Maung Maung Ohn. 

The Union Minister made the speech at the "Media Sector Development" workshop held in July 26 in Naypyidaw.

The high-ranked officials from four pillars of the State attended the workshop and discussed the matters relating to the media sector development. 

During the workshop, “There have been spacing among government, public and media also between civil-military relations. Therefore, we can’t conciliate for some conditions.  Now, we as a State-owned media, are doing some new changes as we have passed through freedom of media on the way to federal democracy. When all situations calm down, we are planning to promote the media sector to be standard by passing the laws, rules, and regulations,” the Union Minister said. 

In addition, “We are now planning to promote the State-owned media sector by reforming with new changes starting on August 1 under the Prime Minister’s directions,” he continued.

Moreover, the Union Minister, Maung Maung Ohn urged to all media to report news in accordance with ethics and to be standard by saying, “Media should be standard with ethics. However, they stand on any side, all media must understand the laws of media. We can't state news as we want ignoring those laws. That's not called ethic."

He also added the State will report to the public through the media in the near future.

The Union Minister also informed to all media that the matters and facts which is priority for the development of the whole media sector discussed in the workshop will be reported to the Prime Minister.
