The Ministry of Electric Power (MOEP) reported to The Statesman Journal that six sub-transmission grids that are connected to four power stations were deliberately sabotaged.

Terrorists sabotaged power transmission grids 59 times in 2023, resulting in the collapse of 39 electric towers.

The MOEP reported that the sabotage acts occurred most frequently in Kayah State and the eastern Bago Region, particularly near Nyaunglebin.

Six sub-transmission grids from four power stations distributing electricity to central and southern Myanmar were primarily sabotaged. 

An official from the MOEP informed The Statesman Journal that six sub-transmission lines, distributing electricity from three Bilu Creek Hydroelectric (Lawpita) Power Plants and the Shwe Kyin Hydroelectric Power Plant to central and southern Myanmar, were largely sabotaged.

The ministry could only conduct maintenance and repair work on six of the sabotaged electric power towers.

From 2021 to 2023, as reported by the MOEP, a total of 89 electric towers have been destroyed by explosions, and sabotage incidents have occurred 118 times.

The ongoing explosions and sabotage of electric towers are severely disrupting people's daily lives and hindering the country's development in Myanmar.
