Khit/ Munich (NSS) – Dec 30
According to the reports from a reliable source close to the security forces, the State troops could seize in return Chaungnakwa and surrounding areas after 50 days on 29 December from the KNU (Kayin insurgents) and allied forces.
The insurgents blocked the town which is located in Kyaikmayaw Township, Mon State.
“Tatmadaw fought back the KNLA and PDF alliance terrorist group led by L.Say Wa. They surrounded the terrorist group and conducted the military operations. The terrorist group retreated. Now, Chaungnakwa area was under the control of Tatmadaw again after 50 days,” the abovementioned source said.
The KNU-affiliated KNLA group, the NUG-affiliated PDF group, and the KTLA joint forces attacked the Chaungnakwa police station and security forces in Kyaikmaraw Township since last November 10.
During the fight, the KNU detonated the Chaungnakwa bridge crossed over the Attram River, which connects Kyainseikgyi Township, Kayin State, and Kyaikmaraw Township, Mon State.
In addition, during the battle, there were people who surrendered from the side of the Tatmadaw security group, but the security members at the Chaungnakwa Police Station defended the land and the station against the blockade attack for 50 days without surrendering.
