Rakhine insurgent AA seizes Mrauk-U police station, conflict escalates
Hsu/ Munich (NSS) – Dec 28
It has been reported that the Mrauk-U District Police Station and Myoma Police Station were raided by the Rakhine insurgent AA. In recent days, the security outposts in Mrauk-U have been subjected to severe raids by the insurgents using disproportionately mass troops.
A resident of Mrauk-U reported that the security forces had to withdraw from both the District Police Station and Myoma Police Station, beginning late in the evening on December 26th.
“According to our sources, the security forces stationed at Mrauk-U Myoma Police Station have withdrawn. Earlier, both their family members and prisoners were relocated, and there were no casualties reported. However, the Myoma station is currently down. Located at the entrance of the town, the Mrauk-U Myoma Police Station is closely connected to the District Police Station. Therefore, when the Myoma Police Station is down, the District Police Station is also affected." he continued.
In recent days, the conflicts in Mrauk-U have escalated, resulting in the loss of civilian lives and damage to their properties.
Additionally, it has been reported that the Mrauk U Museum of Ancient Heritage suffered damage and some of the ancient artifacts showcased inside were destroyed as a result of heavy weapons dropping and exploding.
