DKBA affirms continuing to follow NCA

The Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) will continue to follow the terms and conditions of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), said the DKBA’s Chief of Staff Saw Steel.
He highlighted it in his speech provided during 29th Anniversary of the DKBA that was held on 21 December in Sonseemyaing Village located in Myawaddy Township, Kayin State.
The Chief of Staff affirmed that as the DKBA practices neutralized policy and one of the NCA-signatories, the DKBA is exercising in line with the NCA provisions.
He also remarked that many human life; blood and lives were sacrificed for the peace in the bygone years. Saw Steel also urged the stakeholders to bear patience, to coordinate altogether to be stronger by combining the diversities and differences in order to preserve the peace that all have devoted a lot to gain.
Saw Steel also encouraged and said, “The Kayin armed troops should work together for the Kayin ethnics. Although we have differences, we need to cooperate with each other.”
The DKBA Chief of Staff also stated that the DKBA will continue its steadfast efforts for uplifting the social living status, education, health and regional development for Kayin people; and maintaining the tranquility and security of the Kayin State.
The DKBA signed the NCA in 2015. In addition, the DKBA has been actively involved in the peace talks conducted by the State Administration Council since 2022.
