The General Secretary of the Karen National Union (KNU) Padoh Saw Tadoh Moo announced that the KNU won’t follow and obey the terms and conditions agreed by the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA). 

He stated it during the press conference of the KNU thaw was held on August 10.

Padoh Saw Tadho Moo claimed that the NCA has already been annulled since the takeover by the Tatmadaw.  

He continued that “We have no obligation to follow the NCA anymore because the military ruins the fundamental principle of Chapter 1 of the NCA. Chapter 1 is the core heart of the whole NCA.” 

The NCA was signed by ten Ethnic Armed Forces in then-President Thein Sein's administration and the NLD administration. The ten EAOs involve KNU, CNF, ABSDF, PNLO, LDU, ALP, KNU/KNLA-PC, DKBA, NMSP, and RCSS. 

At present, PNLO, LDU, ALP, KNU/KNLA-PC, DKBA, NMSP, and RCSS continue discussing peace with the State Administration Council without deviation from the NCA frameworks. 

However, KNU, CNF, and ABSDF neglect the peace talk invited by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Worse of all, they exchange fire with the military from time to time.

However, on the other hand, the SAC shows valuing the NCA pathways to maintain internal peace and stability in the forward plans of the SAC.
