Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that three NCA (Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement) Signatory ethnic armed forces have potentialities to contaminate the peace and stability of the country at any time. 

The Army Chief stated it during the meeting of the National Defence and Security Council that was held on Monday (31st July) in Naypyidaw. 

As a matter of fact, the NCA is a covenant between the government, EAOs, and the international organizations, he said.

National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee chaired by Lieutenant General Yar Pyae conducted peace talks 22 times with seven NCA signatory groups and three non-signatory groups from 1st February 2023 to 27th July 2023.

Among the signatory groups, KNU/KNLA-PC, PNLO, DKBA, LDU, ALP, NMSP, and RCSS join peace talks and discussed peace with the government delegation.  

However, three NCA signatory groups: Karen National Union, Chin National Front and All Burma Students Democratic Front did not join the peace talks nor discuss peace. Worst of all, all three groups exchange fire with the Tatmadaw from time to time.

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing remarked during the NDSC meeting that those three groups didn’t attend the peace talks and therefore, saying that “It should be aware that they might commit offenses and demerits destructing the peace and stability of the State at any time. And also, those groups are doing terrorist acts in the current situation.”

In addition, the peace process will be continued accelerating since the demands, discussion factors, and agreements that were made by the attended EAOs have been collected and reviewed systematically, he said.  

Senior General invited again the remaining EAOs to join the peace talks for the sake of peace in the country.
