Myanmar, China mark 73rd Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations on 8th June

Commemorating the 73rd Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the People's Republic of China and signing ceremony for bilateral cooperation agreements took place at the M-Gallery Hotel, according to the Chinese Embassy.
Dignitaries including Ambassador Chen Hai of the People's Republic of China, U Than Swe (Union Minister for Foreign Affairs), U Ko Ko Hlaing (Union Minister for International Cooperation), Dr Myo Thein Kyaw (Union Minister for Science and Technology), Dr Thet Khaing Win (Union Minister for Health), U Min Thein Zan (Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs), along with ten Union Ministers and senior officials, attended the gathering.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Chen Hai extended his support to the people of Myanmar by presenting three million doses of vaccines and syringes, valued at US$6.9 million. The generous contribution aims to bolster Myanmar's efforts in combatting the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, stated by the embassy.
Furthermore, Ambassador Chen Hai and Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Union Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, exchanged letters concerning a project that entails providing equipment and online services to the Government Technological College in Mandalay. This initiative seeks to enhance technological infrastructure and educational opportunities in Myanmar.
Additionally, U Min Thein Zan, Union Minister of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Ambassador Chen Hai engaged in a significant exchange of letters, focusing on conducting a feasibility study for the reconstruction of Aung San Stadium.
Moreover, U Kyaw Myo Htut, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Chen Hai signed an Agreement on the Transfer of Funds for Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2023) Projects. As per the agreement, China will allocate over US$3.8 million to Myanmar for the implementation of 14 Lancang - Mekong Cooperation Special Fund projects.
These projects, spanning across various sectors such as agriculture, livestock research, electricity supply, environmental conservation, capacity building, science and technology, trade, and tourism, will be undertaken by seven line Ministries in Myanmar.
The signing of these comprehensive cooperation agreements signifies the deepening ties and mutual commitment between Myanmar and China, fostering collaboration and advancement across multiple domains. This momentous occasion marks another milestone in the enduring friendship and cooperation shared by both nations.
