  Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Wah Wah Maung told The Statesman that they are planning to offer Belarus-Bangkok-Hanoi-Yangon package tours.

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr. Wah Wah Maung attended the second meeting of the Myanmar–Belarus Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Belarus” held in Minsk, the Republic of Belarus, from September 29 to October 3.

After the visit, negotiations will continue to establish direct flights between Myanmar and Belarus and to achieve mutual visa exemption between the two countries, and a Belarus-Bangkok-Hanoi-Yangon package tour will be organized.

“We will continue to negotiate and sign a direct flight connection with Myanmar and a mutual visa exemption agreement between the two countries. We will organize Belarus-Bangkok-Hanoi-Yangon package tours with Belarusian tourism companies. Their country has between 150,000 and 200,000 tourists to Bangkok and Hanoi every year. Our side will do the marketing,” Dr. Wah Wah Maung told The Statesman.

During the visit, the leaders discussed the implementation of the agreements signed between the two countries in March, the finalization of the roadmap (2026-2028) being drafted based on the signed Letter of Intent on Development Cooperation, and the potential and opportunities for cooperation in the sectors covered by the agreements and roadmap, including industry, agriculture and food, health and medicine, banking and finance, education and tourism, and business.

“They are interested in purchasing Myanmar’s products such as rice, rubber, marine products, and CMP garment items. They have also tested Myanmar’s rubber and confirmed that it meets their acceptance standards, so they are ready to buy. In addition, they are also interested in konjac, cassava, coffee, and dried fruits. On Myanmar’s side, there is interest in importing agricultural machinery, hospital equipment and medical supplies, particularly cancer treatment drugs, as well as milk and dairy products. They are also interested in opening trade showrooms here. A significant portion of Belarus’s investments has already gone into Vietnam, and some of their products could also be exported to Myanmar via Vietnam,” Dr. Wah Wah Maung told The Statesman journal.

Furthermore, it was also reported that negotiations were made during the visit to enable mutual payments in either Russian rubles or Chinese yuan in investment and trade transactions between the two countries.
